Our Spring/Summer ‘18 Collection: 3 buzz-worthy designs
May 24th 2018, by Hightower
From San Francisco to Stockholm, problem-solving statement pieces define our latest collection —so much to share! For our latest post, we’ve captured three designs from Spring/Summer ‘18 that are creating industry buzz: from innovations in seating (and just recognized as an award finalist at ICFF) to office privacy plus some very good news for fans of arguably one of the most recognizable lighting designs ever.
1. Gimbal: fast becoming a fan favorite
Landing a finalist spot for the 2018 NYCxDESIGN award in seating seemed the perfect way to “launch” our Gimbal Lounge Rocker! Designed by our friend Justin Champaign, founder and principal at San Francisco-based Most Modest, Gimbal solves a common office problem in a clever way; the subtle rock and swivel motion expels just the right amount of energy allowing the user to sit longer and remain focused. As Justin shares, “The Gimbal Rocker is the culmination of every soft seating product Most Modest and Hightower have developed to date.” Gimbal High Back Rocker is shown above with our new Ribbon Tables, also designed by Most Modest.
2. More Caravaggio: ALWAYS a good idea
When asked by Interior Design magazine what inspired her to name her iconic light pendant design ‘Caravaggio,’ Danish-based Cecilie Manz commented that she had observed characteristics of the pendant being reminiscent of a Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio painting: “dramatic light and shadow.”
Welcome to the family: Dark Sienna, Dark Ultramarine, Warm Silk and Archipelago Stone; fresh options for Spring/Summer 2018! Caravaggio draws attention for all the right reasons; the feminine shape, the depth of the recognizable bell design, the warmly inviting light. We wanted to bring even more of what our A+D friends love about Caravaggio to their North American clients.
DYK buzz: we remain the exclusive distributor of Caravaggio for the contract furniture space in North America. One more thing to love about Caravaggio Matte.
3. Focus Privacy Screens: functional flexibility
We love what our Swedish-based design partners at Zilenzio created here; personal space for public settings. Floor length to table top height, Focus Privacy Screens are lightweight and fold so they are easily moved or stored. Focus is shown here oh-so-perfectly curving around our Nest Low Back Wood Chairs and New Nest Wood Table designed by Stockholm-based design team Form Us With Love.
Attention-getting buzz for Focus Privacy Screens: sound absorption + beauty = design-forward functionality
