Project Spotlight :: B.I.G. NYC Office

Celebrating its 10th Anniversary, Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG), with its humble beginnings in Copenhagen, has accomplished a lot (to say the least) in its 10 years – with projects like Google’s Silicon Valley HQ, 21st Century Fox and the World Trade Center.

New York is now where the majority of its staff works. And its has recently doubled in size, requiring a new office space to accommodate the 170 staffers. Their new 22,000 square ft space occupies a high floor of a 1930’s building a few blocks away from the WTC. “Our view is a real-life history of the evolution of the American skyscraper—the ideal location for an architect,” Bjarke Ingels says.

We were thrilled to see HighTowers Scoop conference chairs brightening up a meeting room and Bulb Fiction light pendants running alongside a row of meeting rooms. Designed by KiBiSi, in which Ingels himself is the design lead, Scoop and Bulb Fiction are two great examples of Ingels approach of merging craft and technology.
