Robert came to Design somewhat obliquely, studying Art & Design History as an undergraduate. His love of furniture lead him to an internship with Memphis Milano artist and designer, Peter Shire, where he showed hand-made furniture in galleries across Southern California. From there, he received his MFA in Design from the Cranbrook Academy of Art where he explored ideas of domesticity and object culture.
Besides his work for HighTower, Robert has worked with such industry leaders as Haworth, Steelcase, Kohler, and a host of other international companies. He still occasionally shows in galleries and his work is in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA).
